Daydreaming student of Katsu Kaishu. Fan of Jules Verne and always carries a copy of From the Earth to the Moon.

Katsu Ikuko (勝逸子) (Junko Iwao)

Kaishū's daughter.

Ōkubo Tetsuma (大久保鉄馬) (Yasunori Matsumoto)

Former student of Kaishū. Studied in England where he learned fencing. He became a corrupt government official and is secretly agitating the Beniaoi in attempt to gain the hidden Tokugawa treasure.

Shibata (柴田) (Mugihito)

Leader of the Beniaoi.

Tokugawa Yoshinobu (徳川慶喜) (Kazuhiro Ōguro)

Japan's last Shogun. After being ousted, he was imprisoned. The Beniaoi group seeks to reinstate him as the ruler of Japan.
